The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. VIII (DOST VIII) met with the Department of Science and Technology Application and Information Institute (DOST-TAPI) officials led by its Director, Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, to discuss the Institutional Support for Technology Exposition (ISTE) Program on March 16, 2022 at the DOST VIII Conference Room. Officials from the Technical Operations and the Finance Unit attended the event and tackled the following agenda: DOST-TAPI Orientation on Rules and Regulation and DOST Stakeholders Forum, Caravan (Bringing S&T Closer to the People), and other issues and concerns.

The meeting was presided over by Ms. Marilyn O. Radam, Asst. Regional Director for Technical Operations, for and on behalf of Engr. Ernesto M. Granada, Regional Director of DOST VIII, who was also attending an equally important meeting that day.

In her opening message, Dir. Decena mentioned that the DOST VIII is the first regional office that the DOST-TAPI visited for their ISTE Program. She also talked about how to better assist and collaborate with the regional offices in the implementation of the Regional Science and Technology and other major events such as the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE). After which, Ms. Rodelia R. Padilla presented the new program that TAPI plan to collaborate with DOST VIII, the DOST Stakeholders Forum and Caravan: Brining S and T Closer to the People tentatively scheduled in June 2022. Once settled, Visayas Cluster though DOST VIII will be the first one to conduct this new strategy in promoting and marketing technologies developed by DOST’s Research, Development, and Innovation institutions.

During the updating of TAPI’s Accountant, Ms. Ma. Sheena K. Bala-oy, it is noticeably that DOST VIII has a very minimal unliquidated cash advance from TAPI which can only be attributed for the reversion of funds to Bureau of Treasury but missed to secure certification from said agency to be submitted to TAPI. This however will be immediately settled within the month.
