To provide a platform for exchange of stories and experiences from various women entrepreneurs, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. VIII successfully conducted a panel discussion last November 26, 2021 during the Eastern Visayas Regional Science and Technology Week Celebration.

The panel discussion featured engaging discussions about the struggles and experiences of women entrepreneurs in time of the pandemic with emphasis on the common gender issues experienced by both sexes.

“The pandemic has widened existing inequalities of women and men. This is mostly due to the increasing demand for care work during the peak of the pandemic. This increase in demand has threatened the way women fulfill their productive and community roles”, said Engr. Ernesto M. Granada, DOST VIII Regional Director.

The discussion yielded important insights on how the panelists in their own business and industries have hurdled the challenges of the pandemic while fulfilling their respective reproductive roles.

The panel discussion was featured as one of the events of the 2021 Eastern Visayas Regional Science and Technology Week (EVRSTW) Celebration. Together with the celebration of the RSTW in all regions, the 2021 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) with his year’s theme, ‘’Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon’’, remains a testament to DOST’s continued commitment to provide science, technology, and innovation to the people as it pivots amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
